Predators
« on: March 13, 2010, 08:10:26 PM »

Here's the movie site, which includes a Sneak Peak:
http://predators-movie.com/
(btw, this site has one of the coolest cursors I've seen anywhere)

More info:
http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/features/sxsw-5-things-we-learned-from-the-predators-first-look.php

Some interesting quotes:

"The trailer gives the film a feeling of tension, more of a horror-flick feel than a straightforward actioner."

"It also included the return of the original Predator from the first film. [...] He will be in the film."

"the first trailer was rejected by the MPAA, due to some excessive slaughter at the hands of Predators."

"there are no CGI Predators in the film."

"the film will feature two different tribes of Predators. And the designs of each Predator is based on that model’s preferred hunting method."

Check it out and tell me what you think.

Not sure what happened but the site started to load but now there's nothing.  :icon_eh: I'll go ahead and go off what you've posted here then try the site again a bit later.

Right off the bat I like that there will be no CGI predators...big plus in my book. I like CGI, in fact I like it a lot, but it seems Hollywood gets a bit too CGI happy which to me, at times, takes away from realism. I like a nice balance of special effects and actors actually playing the parts and doing the stunts.

One thing that made me giggle was that it was initially rejected due to excessive slaughter? lolololol   They're "predators" so I'd assume they're going to rip their prey to shreds. Movie goers seems to like things too squeaky clean all the time. Excessive slaughter? I say bring it on!

I also like there will be two tribes although more than two would make sense, but two are better than just one kind of predator.

One thing I don't like is the horror flick feel that was described. I love horror movies, but I don't how well that will fly with predator.  Maybe that's what they were referring to about excessive slaughtering.

That's all I can offer right now. I loved the original Predator and am often open to sequels so I will probably watch this movie. I just hope they do it justice.
I gotta agree. Every morning I see my roommate, I say something like, "Mornin' ugly." Or something like that. I just can't be all pleasant and sweet to the guy. That'd be gay.

Okay, got it to load.  Agreed about the cursor. lol  I wish I could copy it somehow and use it.

From the snippet they offered it looks good. I don't get the horror movie feel from it by what I saw, except for one quick scene where you see the predator lift someone up above his head, which was reminiscent of Michael Myers lifting up a victim with his knife. Other than that, I'm looking forward to seeing the movie trailer on the 18th.

It's a new movie coming out. Not really a sequel, more like a "reboot".

Reboots are terrible.  Anyone see Nightmare on Elm Street?  Fuck me that was terrible.  How about that Hellraiser movie where they were online?  Terrible as fuck.

Make new movies, Christ.

You mean a remake? WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY DOING THAT FOR?! PREDATOR WAS FINE THE WAY IT WAS! MOTHER FUCKERS!

I have yet to see the new Nightmare on Elm Street, and debating whether or not to see it. Don't think it out yet over here, need to check.

The only good parts from The Dark Knight were when the Joker was involved, and that's only because the character was awesome.  The movie itself wasn't very good.
